How do I import date from Excel spreadsheet file?
If you are using Microsoft Excel, you can simply save your spreadsheet into csv (comma separated value). From the Fixed Asset Pro, click File ~ Import... and select the source file for import. Assign fields and click the okay button to execute your action. One of the most likely problems you will encounter is the date format. Make sure you assign the correct picture format.
To format or deformat the import field, click the 'Picture' button. This button calls the picture entry window for the currently highlighted Import Field. This is especially useful if the import field is a formatted date. Some of the most commonly used date formats are listed below:
@D1 mm/dd/yy
@D2 mm/dd/yyyy
@D5 dd/mm/yy
@D6 dd/mm/yyyy
How do I save report in plain text format?
To print report as text file that could be read by Wordpad or other word processors is easy. Just follow the following procedures:
Check your PC whether you have a printer named 'Generic/Text Only' in your printers configuration folder (Start -> Settings -> Printers), you can add one easily if you do not have one.
Highlight the 'Generic/Text Only' printer and right-click your mouse.
Select Properties to bring up the Generic / Text Properties. Click the Details tab. At 'Print to the following port', select 'FILE: (Creates a file on disk)'. At 'Print using the following driver', select 'Generic / Text Only'. Click Apply button to save your settings.
At Print Setup (File -> Print Setup), select 'Generic / Text Only on File:' Click OK.
Print your report in usual manner. When you click the 'Print' button at the report preview, you will be prompted to enter a file name for you to save the preview report in text file.
After successful import of data, I proceed to print asset reports but received an error message that there are no records to display, why?
You have to ensure the status field (ASS:Status) is set to 'O'. 'O' stands for Open and 'C' stands for Closed. Only records with asset status set to 'O' will appear in any reports.
